Tree service in Richmond.

Richmond is a mix of mature pecan-shaded original neighborhoods (Pecan Grove, Long Meadow Farms) and newer master-planned communities (Aliana, Veranda) — each with very different tree-care needs.

Why local matters

Twelve years on the same streets.

Pecan trees dominate older Richmond neighborhoods and they're specific work — heavy nuts, brittle wood, and a tight pruning window to avoid bleed. We've been working Richmond pecans for 12 years and know the species cold.

Local knowledge

What Richmond trees are really up against.

Richmond sits on the Fort Bend County clay belt and shares the same expansive-soil dynamics as Sugar Land. The town's older neighborhoods include some of the largest mature pecans in the Houston metro — the area gets its character partly from the pecan trees that gave Pecan Grove its name. These pecans need different maintenance from live oaks: pecans are more brittle than oaks, drop limbs more readily in wind, and produce heavier seasonal debris from husks and nuts. Stagger pruning across the canopy to reduce wind sail without removing too much live foliage at once. Richmond's older homes are on raised pier-and-beam foundations more often than newer suburbs, which changes the foundation-protection calculus around root systems. Fort Bend County's permit office is at the Justice Center in Richmond — we're there often enough to know the staff, which helps when removals need quick permitting. Common species in Richmond: pecan (most common in older sections), live oak, southern magnolia, post oak, and water oak. After Beryl in 2024 we ran continuous crews through Richmond for ten days — much of the storm damage in Fort Bend concentrated here because of the older brittle pecan canopy.
