Sod & New Lawn Installation in Sugar Land, TX
Graded, prepped, and laid so it actually takes root.
New sod fails when it's thrown over bad dirt. We strip the old lawn, fix the grade so water drains, prep and level the soil, and lay St. Augustine, Zoysia, or Bermuda tight with no gaps — then tell you exactly how to water it through the critical first three weeks.
Why Brazos
Because we grade and haul for our land-clearing side, the prep under your sod is done right — leveled, sloped away from the foundation, and rolled — not just raked over the old bumps. That prep is the whole difference between sod that knits in and sod that browns out.
We clear it, grade it, drain it, and plant it — one crew, one contract, raw lot to finished yard.

Common questions
Sod & Lawn questions, answered straight.
St. Augustine or Zoysia — which is better for Sugar Land?
St. Augustine (usually Raleigh or Palmetto) is the Houston standard — it loves heat, handles part shade, and fills in fast, but it needs water and isn't freeze-proof. Zoysia is denser, more drought- and traffic-tolerant, and greens up later in spring but costs more. For most Fort Bend back yards with some tree shade we lean St. Augustine; for full-sun, high-traffic yards Zoysia is worth it. We'll match the grass to your light on the estimate.
How much does it cost to sod a yard in Fort Bend County?
Installed, most yards run $0.85–$1.40 per square foot depending on grass type, how much grading and prep the old lawn needs, and access. A typical 2,000 sq ft front yard runs roughly $1,900–$2,800 done right. We quote a flat installed price after measuring.
When is the best time to lay sod in Houston?
Spring through early fall is ideal — sod needs warm soil and time to root before any freeze. We install year-round, but October–November installs need extra care, and we'll tell you straight if it's better to wait until spring.
How long until I can mow and use the new lawn?
Keep off it and keep it wet for the first 2 weeks while roots set. First mow is usually around week 3 once it's anchored (tug a corner — if it resists, it's rooted). We leave a day-by-day watering schedule so you're not guessing.
