Tree service in The Woodlands.

The Woodlands was master-planned inside an existing pine forest in the 1970s — most homes here are still nestled under 80 to 120-foot loblolly pines that were standing before the development was platted. Living in a forest looks great. Maintaining one is real work.

Why local matters

Twelve years on the same streets.

The Woodlands Township covenants and the township-adopted tree-protection ordinance combine to make this one of the strictest tree-preservation regulatory environments in the state. Removal of any tree over 12 feet tall on private property typically requires Township approval. We file the applications, attend the reviews, and time work around their permit windows.

Local knowledge

What The Woodlands trees are really up against.

The Woodlands is unique among Houston-metro communities because the entire master-plan was built around a preserved pine forest. The neighborhood's tree canopy is dominated by loblolly pine, with significant live oak, sweetgum, and southern magnolia mixed in. Pine maintenance is fundamentally different from oak maintenance: pines drop substantial needle and cone debris year-round, are more vulnerable to bark beetles and root-knot nematodes, and have specific pruning approaches (pines compartmentalize wounds differently from oaks). The Woodlands deed restrictions are tight and tree removal requires Township architectural-review approval; we submit applications directly. Montgomery County permit office handles county-level work. Hurricane Beryl in 2024 caused substantial pine damage in The Woodlands — pines are more brittle than oaks and fail more readily in 60+ mph winds. We ran storm-response crews here continuously for two weeks after Beryl. Common species: loblolly pine (overwhelming dominance), live oak, southern magnolia, sweetgum, bald cypress, and Chinese tallow (invasive, often slated for removal).
