Garden Oaks and adjacent Oak Forest are named for what they're built around. The 1940s-50s ranch homes here sit on lots planned around mature live oak specimens — many of which were already substantial when the houses went up. Now those trees are 80+ years old, with crowns spanning whole front yards.
