Tanglewood is a wealthier neighborhood just inside the West Loop near the Galleria, with mature live oak and southern magnolia canopies that date to the 1950s and 1960s. The neighborhood's deed restrictions don't have an explicit tree ordinance, but the Tanglewood Homes Association takes tree care seriously and many homeowners are proactive about long-term maintenance. The mature trees here are now 60–70 years old, entering the senior phase where cabling-and-bracing, selective hazard-reduction pruning, and root-zone restoration extend useful life. Tanglewood's location near the Buffalo Bayou drainage means flooding risk during major rain events; we recommend annual root-zone inspections for trees within the bayou's influence zone. The neighborhood's lot sizes (typical quarter-acre) provide reasonable working room. Common species: live oak (dominant), southern magnolia, pecan, post oak, and pine (significant minority population). After Beryl, Tanglewood homeowners commonly faced damaged or fallen pines and broken live oak limbs — we ran storm response through the neighborhood for over a week.
