How Much Does Lawn Mowing Cost in Sugar Land & Fort Bend? (2026 Prices)

Most companies hide behind “free quote.” Here are real 2026 mowing prices for Fort Bend yards — per cut, per month, and what actually moves the number.

Almost every lawn company in Fort Bend answers the price question the same way: "call for a free quote." That's fine when a yard is unusual, but for a standard residential lawn it mostly just wastes your time. So here are real 2026 numbers for what mowing costs in Sugar Land, Rosenberg, Missouri City, Richmond, Katy, and the rest of Fort Bend County.

The short answer

Most standard residential lawns run $40 to $55 per cut. Recurring weekly or every-other-week service sits at the lower end of that range; one-time cuts on an overgrown yard run higher. Our own recurring mow plan starts at $40 per visit, and a one-time cut at $45.

What you'll pay by lot size

  • Small yard (under 4,000 sq ft of turf): $35–$45 per cut.
  • Standard yard (4,000–8,000 sq ft): $45–$60 per cut.
  • Large yard (quarter-acre+): $60–$100+ per cut.
  • Lots and acreage: quoted by the job — this is tractor-and-brush-equipment work, and few lawn-only companies can do it. We can, because we run that gear for land work.

What actually drives the price

Two identical-looking yards can price differently. The factors that move the number:

  • Turf area — the biggest driver, and it's the mowable grass, not your lot size on paper.
  • Edging and trimming load — lots of beds, trees, and fence line means more line-trimming and edging time.
  • Overgrowth — a yard that hasn't been cut in a month takes longer and dulls blades; first cuts cost more.
  • Obstacles and slope — playsets, tight gates, drainage ditches, and hills all slow a crew down.
  • Frequency — recurring customers get a lower per-visit rate than one-offs because the lawn stays easy to cut.

Recurring plan vs. one-time

If you need ongoing service, a recurring plan almost always beats calling around for one-time cuts. The grass stays at a manageable height, so each visit is faster and cheaper, and you lock a rate. One-time cuts make sense for a rental turnover, a vacation catch-up, or a badly overgrown yard — but you'll pay a premium for them. Not sure how often you actually need it? See weekly vs. biweekly mowing.

What should be included

A real mowing price covers mow, edge, line-trim, and blow-down of every hard surface — every visit. Watch for quotes that look cheap because they leave out edging or charge extra to bag clippings. Ours includes all of it, with no contract and no sign-up fee.

How to avoid overpaying

  • Get the price in writing with what's included spelled out.
  • Beware contracts and cancellation fees — you shouldn't need either.
  • Ask who shows up — a rotating cast of subcontractors usually means inconsistent quality.
  • Confirm insurance — an uninsured mower who damages your property or gets hurt is your problem.
